Frequently Asked Questions

What is the program?

My Health Explained is an online 12 week diabetes program that contains videos, activities, tools and information designed to get a person with diabetes on track in a few short weeks and keep them there. The program changes and adapts based on a person's specific needs and where they are in their journey. The program is ideal whether you are

  • newly diagnosed
  • finding your medications are increasing,
  • developing complications related to diabetes, or
  • are doing well and want to stay there!

It is also perfect if you care about someone with diabetes and want to help them. The program is designed to be completed in 12 weeks (but you can complete it in a longer or shorter time), and can be watched over and over again whenever it suits you. It is not designed to take the place of the health team but it is designed to empower people to have a more productive partnership with their doctor and team. To spend the equivalent amount of time with diabetes specialists, diabetes nurses, dieticians and psychologists would take hours and cost thousands of dollars.

Who has it been designed for?

These programs are perfect no matter where you are on your journey. The content changes based on your specific situation so that each program is uniquely created for you. It is also designed for people who care about someone with diabetes so that they can help their loved ones too.

Who is Dr Sultan Linjawi

I am a busy endocrinology, diabetes and hormone specialist working in Australia, leading a team of diabetes health professionals. I originally trained at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical Schools in London (now part of Imperial Medical School, London) and obtained a BSc in Histopathology as well as my medical degree and qualified in 1996.

Becoming a specialist is certainly not easy and aside from the 6 years at medical school, I spent another 10 years developing expertise in my field. I am a recognised physician with specialist qualifications in both the UK and Australia (which were superbly difficult to pass!).

The last six years have seen much of my time developing and completing My Health Explained, using the experience from my years of seeing patients to provide a solution that works. For more information visit Dr Sultan Linjawi page.

Who else has helped develop this diabetes program?

Developing My Health Explained could not have occurred without the help of a large team of people who continue to work tirelessly to provide up to the minute cutting edge information. The medical team includes Astrid Tattersall (Diabetes Nurse Educator), Lisa Urquhart (Accredited Dietician and Associate Lecturer), Elizabeth Whittred (Accredited Dietician) and Tara Griffin (Clinical Psychologist specialising in diabetes and obesity). The video content was created and directed by award winning film director Simon Portus of Headline Productions and the online diabetes platform was designed, developed and implemented by the team of award winning Thirsty Studios.

How much does it cost?

The 12 week personalised program contains over 40 videos, articles, activities and tools to get a person under control and is discounted to $240 if paid upfront. Some people choose an instalment plan of $25 per week for 12 weeks. The cost of spending this amount of time with Endocrinologists, Psychologist, Dieticians and Diabetes Educators would be thousands of dollars if not tens of thousands.

How long can I access my customised program?

The program can be accessed over and over (as many times as you like) and is available for the lifetime of the program. The videos are streamed onto your device. It is against our terms and conditions for the videos to be copied and shared outside of the My Health Explained platform.

Like medical knowledge, the program is constantly being upgraded to ensure it is up to date and current. People who buy the program will also be invited into a private facebook group where they can ask questions from the medical team and community. Our mission is to help and we really so mean that.

How secure is my credit card information?

Stripe is our payment processor and they bill your credit card. We do not store or hold your credit card details ever. Stripe provides secure and safe payments and they are used by over 100,000s online businesses. More about Stripe and Security

Will you share my details with anyone?

No, we never share your personal identifiable details with anyone. Ever. Your personal information is totally private just like it is when you go to the doctor. At the end of the program we will give you a "where are you now" document which you may wish to share with your health team.

I don't have diabetes but someone I care about does. Will this be any good for me?

Yes definitely! We have developed My Health Explained to be a comprehensive experience to improve the lives of people with diabetes and carers are critical in this mission. Not only will the program improve your understanding, it will also offer you advice and ideas to help your loved one achieve better health. We are all in this together so don’t underestimate how much you can do.

Wow! This program is great. I want to help others?

Thank you, and yes you can. In most countries 1 in 10 adults have diabetes and in some places, 1 in 2 adults have the condition. You never have to go far to meet someone who is affected. Tell them about it! Emailing, tweeting or posting about diabetes and the program is vital to getting the message out. You might also want to give it as a gift to someone you care about that you want to be around for as long as possible. If you are a diabetes educator, dietician, doctor or other health professional tell your clients about the program. This is a great addition to the superb work that you are doing and will only enhance your service.
